A baby boy...

Hello!

I just wanted to let you know that on January 11th, our baby boy was born.  After much deliberation, we named him Jackson Daniel Deakin.  He weighed 7lbs. and measured 19.5 inches.  He is a very sweet baby and adored by all of us.

I came home from the hospital to find my computer no longer working.  My husband thinks it may be infected with a virus.  I am having a hard time without it...it is my connection to the outside world.  I have felt so badly to not be able to post about the baby's birth because I know so many of you were thinking of me and keeping me in your prayers.  I hope you know how much I appreciate it.  I am hoping that my computer is back up and running soon.  I am looking forward to downloading my photos from my camera and sharing our new baby with all of you.  Tonight I am entering this post from my husband's computer.

I hope all is well with all of you and I hope to be in touch soon.

Thank you + handmade teacher gifts

Thank you so much for all your kind words about my 39-week belly shots.  You all made me feel so good.  I apologize that I don't have the time to personally respond to all your kind comments, but I know you understand.  We appear to still be in a holding pattern with this baby.  I had a doctor's appointment today and not much progress is being made.  That's okay with me, though.  I am not really uncomfortable yet and if the babe needs more time in the old belly, that's just fine.  If I don't have the baby this week, I will be having another sonogram next Monday, to check my fluid levels, etc.  I'll keep you posted.

In all the holiday craziness, I realized that I never shared my handmade teacher gifts for the boys' teachers this year.  I really try to make the teachers something useful, yet somewhat personal.  This year, I made covered notebooks with matching tissue holders.  Sean has 1 teacher and 3 aides (it is a job-sharing situation) and Luke has 1 teacher and an aide, so I had a total of 6 sets of gifts to make.  I bought moleskin notebooks and covered them with some of my favorite fabrics.

The linen tissue holders have matching fabric to the notebook on the bottom.

Inside the fabric pocket, I just added a little personalized note.

39 weeks...

Since this may be the last of my self-portrait maternity shots, I figured I would share a few.

 

My due date is January 9th, so I am exactly seven days away.  Now, I have been 6 days late with both of my previous pregnancies, so we will have to see what happens this time around.

All is ready here...the decorations have been taken down and the house is back to some semblance of order.

All the baby clothes are washed and put away.

My bag is pretty much packed except for those few last minute items that will be added.

Grandma is already staying with us and is a HUGE help.

The boys are beyond excited to meet our new baby!
