December Daily: Day 6

Today's entry is about another one of our family traditions.  We celebrate St. Nicholas Day on December 6th.  Saint Nicholas was a bishop who loved children.  According to the legend, Nicholas liked to leave small gifts for children to surprise them.  When St. Nicholas died, people kept up the tradition of giving small gifts to children on a special day.  In our family, we all put out our shoes out on the eve of December 6th.  We put them in front of the fireplace in hopes that St. Nicholas will bring us treats.

Not sure if you can read the journaling or see in the photo, but St. Nicholas left us some special treats.  Sean got a Lego Creator set and some candy treats.  Luke received a toy truck along with sweet treats.  Somehow, St. Nicholas knew I love to read People magazine and he brought Kevin his favorite candy treat, spice drops.  We love St. Nicholas day...it is fun for all of us!

December Daily: Day 5

Here is my entry for day 5 of my December album.  This is just a random photo of Luke during the day.  My journaling talks about how Luke is so into Christmas this year.  I bought him a Santa shirt from Old Navy that he loves and he will also sport the Santa hat around during the day.  This is such a special time; it will be a really fun Christmas with him.

I printed my journaling onto one of the labels from Karla's fabulous X-Mas Magic Kit available from After Five Designs.

December Daily: Day 4

Of course, I have to document one of my favorite things about the holiday season...Starbucks red cups and holiday sleeves. This year is especially significant as Starbucks is joining forces with GAP and other companies in the (RED) campaign.  Even though I am not drinking much coffee right now, these cups make me happy.  What can be better than that?

Another simple page with journaling added right below the photo.  I took an extra sleeve from Starbucks and added it on the back of the page.

December Daily: Day 3

Here is my photo of the day for yesterday and this is what I used for my December Daily entry.  Luke really loves snowglobes.  We have been checking them out in the stores and he is fascinated by them.  So when I pulled this one out of our Christmas decorations, he was thrilled.

December Daily: Days 1 & 2

Here is Day one of my December Daily album.  I put the photo of our book countdown on the front and the journaling on the back.

And here is day two...same format with photo of some decorations on the front and journaling on the back.  My journaling talks about getting the house decorated extra early this year because they will be coming down right after the holidays with the baby's due date so soon in January.

December Daily album

When Ali first shared her December Daily album last year, I desperately wanted to do it, but time got the best of me.  This year I was determined to not let the time slip away.  Despite the fact that my 365 +1 photo album to the right is not updated (Typepad takes forever to load the photos and I just don't have a lot of spare time right now), I have continued to take a photo each day this year.  For me, the December Daily album is a perfect culmination to this last month of taking photos in 2008.  I really want to savor these last moments of us as a family of four.

So last week, my friend Joanne  and I met at our LSS to set up the framework for our albums.  I finally finished mine over the weekend; I now know I am the world's slowest scrapbooker.  I cannot wait to see Joann's completed album. 

I won't bore you with photos of each day, but here are a few.  I am really looking forward to just adding a photo and journaling each day leading up to Christmas.

The Amazing Karla Dudley

I'm sure you are all familiar with the amazing, Miss Karla Dudley.  Talk about a multi-talented woman; Karla is a scrapbook artist, bookmaker, photographer extraordinaire, momma and now a digital designer.  I have always been in awe of Karla's work, so when she contacted me to see if I would join her design team, I nearly fell out of my chair.  How lucky I am I?  I get to work with Karla's amazing digital creations.  Each week, Karla creates digital collections for After Five Designs.  While I am by no means a digital expert, I am loving the opportunity to play with these awesome kits as well as learn more about the art of digital scrapbooking.  So, if you haven't checked out After Five Designs, treat yourself and if you haven't yet bookmarked Karla's blog, you must.  It is filled to the brim with inspiration.
