Captured...

He doesn't really like when I take photos of him. However, I will not relent; I am a photographer after all! ;) I am trying to be more diligent in just capturing the little moments that make a happy day for us.  This morning (after Jack spilled honey on his pants...hence the diaper only) he was mesmerized by Franklin on Nick Jr. and enjoyed his morning snack of an apple. He isn't really a tv guy, so this is not the norm to see him staring at the screen.

 

 

Summer...

For this guy, the answer is definitely 'no.' 

Jack LOVES to eat and whenever & whatever someone else is eating, he must partake as well.  When his brothers eat popsicles, he must have one.  He was so happy to enjoy this cherry popsicle after our walk last night.  He was holding on to that stick with all his might and as you can see in this photo, he was very focused.

Ahhh...summer...I love it!

Scenes from ordinary life...

Summer is here and I'm trying to keep my camera close by to capture these scenes from ordinary life.

This little guy loves to eat and the latest thing is he refuses to eat unless he can 'self-feed'; this isn't necessarily a bad thing except that I am spending lots of time on my hands and knees cleaning up the scraps that land on the floor.  But, this face is worth it:

And, there is nothing better than sweet-smelling-freshly-showered boys snuggling with dad on the couch for some reading time.

Warm summer days mean running around outside, swimming and taking advantage of the warmer temperatures we have been waiting so long for.  And all of that can really tire a guy out.

Speaking of capturing ordinary life, I am looking forward to taking this online class at Big Picture Scrapbooking.  I adore Tracey Clark and this looks like it is going to be so much fun!

Scenes from ordinary life...

Here is another installment from my attempt at capturing more of  'ordinary life'.

As the weather gets warmer here, we are outside a lot more...swimming in the kiddie pool, taking walks, playing in the yard, etc.  The littlest guy in the family is struggling to keep up.   

He was so tired today, even after I got him up from his nap and put his swimmy diaper on, he just couldn't quite wake up.

 

He loves his binkie...don't even want to think about when I will have to take this away...not for a while; I know that!

And I love his sweet baby curls.

The sleepy frog position...feet curled back and bum in the air.  Is there anything better?

 
  

 

Camera Ready...

A fellow photographer recommended this book, Camera Ready by Arthur Elgort.  As one that is never able to refuse a good book especially one about photography, I purchased a used copy via Amazon, since it is no longer in print.  Elgort is a film photographer and this book contains images of his own children.  While it isn't a technical book...he doesn't tell you how he captures the images...it is a book filled with inspiration.  I have only perused it, but doing so caused me to grab my camera and capture life as it was happening at the moment.  

 

That moment consisted of the littlest guy looking at books...making funny faces...and putting books on his head.  This is the stuff of ordinary life...stuff I don't want to forget.  

 

Lately, I seem to want to set up the 'perfect shot' but this book is reminding me that the small moments are the essence of life.  I hope this inspires you today!
