I have a tutorial for you today, though it is so simple that I'm not sure if I should really call it a tutorial. However, I have wanted to make a 'Memory Game' for Luke for a while now, so I thought I would take photos as I worked on it and share it with you.
For this game, I made a set of 16 cards, though that seems to be a bit too many. We have been playing with 10 pairs (20 cards), but the extras allow for us to rotate different images in.
Here are the supplies you need:
(1) paper cutter
(2) corner rounder punch
(3) adhesive
(4) 2-sheets of cardstock (*I sandwiched the cardstock between the photo and patterned paper to give the cards more durability, but you can bypass this if you choose.)
(5) 2-sheets of patterned paper (*must be the same pattern)
(6) photos (2 of each)
I selected the photos I wanted to use and since I was making it to play with Luke, I chose images that would be most relevant and meaningful to him. In Photoshop, I cropped all the photos to 3" x 3" and printed them onto photo paper. Be sure you print 2 copies of each image.
Using your paper trimmer, cut out your photos.
Next cut your patterned paper to 3" x 3" and you will also do this with the cardstock. I made a total of 16 patterned pieces and 16 cardstock pieces.
I used the corner rounder here before adhering all the pieces together. I find that it is sometimes difficult and requires lots of strength to get the corner rounder to punch through several pieces of paper (some being cardstock). Now, this did require that I do some trimming when it came time to adhere the pieces together, but it wasn't a problem. If you have an extra durable corner rounder punch, you certainly can adhere all your pieces together and then corner round at the end.
I put adhesive on the back of the photo and adhered it to the middle piece of cardstock. Then I put adhesive on the back of the cardstock and adhered the patterned paper so one side is the photo and the other is the patterned paper.
Once you have all your cards made, enjoy looking at the personalized, meaningful photos.
